Applications
· Schools and educational facilities — outdoor crossing points, stair heads and entrance warning zones
· Hospitals and healthcare buildings — entrance thresholds, stair heads and pedestrian crossing approach zones
· Shopping centres and retail environments — building entrance warning zones and pedestrian crossing indicators
· Office and commercial building lobbies — entrance threshold warning tiles and stair head indicators
· Public transport interchanges (light-traffic areas) — bus shelter kerbside warning strips and pedestrian path approach zones
· Government and civic buildings — accessible entrance and pedestrian crossing warning zones
· Indoor pedestrian areas with moderate foot traffic — corridors, lobbies and level-change indicators
Installation Steps
1. Prepare the substrate — clean, dry and level. Remove all loose material, dust and grease. New concrete must be fully cured (minimum 28 days).
2. Dry-lay tiles without adhesive to confirm layout and alignment.
3. Apply contact cement or epoxy tile adhesive to both the substrate and the tile underside. Allow to reach the correct tack level.
4. Press tiles firmly into position, working from one end to avoid trapped air. Align dome grid square to the pedestrian direction of travel.
5. Roll the full tile surface with a rubber roller to ensure complete contact bonding.
6. For mechanical fixing: drill countersunk pilot holes, insert stainless steel screws, fill with colour-matched epoxy filler.
7. Fill tile-to-tile joints with colour-matched flexible grout (not rigid cement grout).
8. Allow 24-hour minimum adhesive cure before opening to foot traffic.
9. Inspect for hollow spots and raised edges after curing.
Product Advantages
· Lowest installed cost in the dot-pattern tile range — PVC provides full TGSI compliance at a lower material cost than TPU or stainless steel
· Identical TGSI function to MD-00T — same dome dimensions, same compliance standards, same 300×300mm panel; fully interchangeable layout
· Proven global deployment — PVC tactile tiles are the world's most widely installed TGSI format; extensive installation and performance track record
· Wide colour availability — same colour range as MD-00T for consistent TGSI systems across mixed project specifications
FAQ
Q: Is PVC sufficient for outdoor use or should I always use TPU?
A: PVC tactile tiles (MD-00P) are suitable for outdoor use in sheltered and semi-exposed environments, and for indoor applications. For fully exposed outdoor installations with heavy pedestrian traffic, UV exposure and temperature cycling — such as open railway platforms, airport aprons or street-level pedestrian crossings — TPU (MD-00T) is recommended for its superior long-term durability. For indoor environments and moderate outdoor exposure, PVC provides excellent performance at a lower cost.
Q: Can MD-00P and MD-00T be mixed in the same installation?
A: Yes. Both tiles have identical 300×300mm dimensions and dome geometry. They can be used in the same installation if required — for example, specifying TPU for the highest-traffic outdoor sections and PVC for sheltered or indoor sections of the same project.
Q: What is the expected service life of PVC tactile tiles in a typical indoor commercial building?
A: Under normal indoor commercial conditions with regular cleaning, PVC tactile tiles typically provide 10–15 years of service life before dome wear requires replacement. Service life is extended by regular cleaning that removes abrasive grit, and by using floor-cleaning equipment that does not apply excessive mechanical pressure to the dome surface.
