Applications
· Residential apartment buildings — clean metal stair edge protection for communal stairs
· Private homes — discreet stair trim that complements tile, wood or vinyl flooring
· Schools and offices — simple anti-slip edge trim for lower-traffic internal stairs
· Architectural and retail environments — anodized finish integrates with interior design schemes
· Renovation projects — slim profile installs over existing stair edges without raising tread height significantly
Installation Steps1. Measure the tread width and cut A40 to length if required.
2. Clean the tread surface at the step edge.
3. Position the A40 flush with the leading edge of the tread.
4. For screw fixing: mark pilot hole positions and drill through the profile and into the substrate.
5. Fix with countersunk screws at 200–250mm intervals.
6. For adhesive fixing: apply contact adhesive to the underside of the profile and allow to become tacky before pressing firmly into position.
7. Check that the profile is flush and level along its full length.
FAQQ: What is the difference between the A40 and D40?
A: The A40 is a full aluminium profile with machined anti-slip grooves — a clean single-material finish with no contrasting insert. The D40 has an aluminium base with a clip-in PVC anti-slip insert available in yellow, grey or black. The A40 is the choice for aesthetic-sensitive environments where a single-material metal finish is preferred. The D40 provides stronger visual contrast at the step edge for higher-visibility safety marking.
Q: Is A40 suitable for outdoor use?
A: The anodized A40 provides basic weather resistance for sheltered outdoor applications. For exposed outdoor stairs or concrete stair applications, the D50 or D60 models are recommended.
Q: What colours is the A40 available in?
A: Anodized silver (standard), anodized black and anodized gold. Brushed and powder-coated finishes are also available on request.
