Applications· Standard commercial buildings — office lobbies, hotels, retail units where a slim nosing profile is architecturally preferred
· Schools and education facilities — compact nosing that meets anti-slip requirements without protruding step edge
· Healthcare and institutional buildings — discreet stair edge protection compatible with regular cleaning protocols
· Renovation projects — retrofitting stair edge protection onto existing narrow-tread stairs where wider profiles would not fit
Installation Steps1. Measure the tread width and cut D40 to length if required.
2. Clean the tread edge surface.
3. Position D40 at the tread front edge with the PVC insert facing outward.
4. Mark and drill pilot holes through the pre-drilled countersunk holes.
5. Fix with countersunk screws at approximately 200–250mm intervals.
6. Snap the PVC insert into the aluminium channel if not pre-installed.
7. Check that the nosing is flush with the tread surface along its full length.
FAQQ: What is the difference between D40 and D50?
A: The D40 is 40mm wide — a more compact profile that suits stairs where a slimmer nosing is specified or where the tread nosing dimension is constrained. The D50 at 50mm offers more anti-slip surface area and is the more commonly specified model for standard commercial buildings. Both share the same PVC insert system and aluminium base construction.
Q: Is D40 suitable for outdoor stairs?
A: Yes, for sheltered outdoor applications. The anodized aluminium finish provides weather resistance. For fully exposed outdoor concrete stair applications, the D50 or D60 is recommended for its greater tread coverage.
