Applications
· Schools and universities — wide PVC nosing provides clear step edge marking on high-footfall indoor stairs at an accessible cost
· Care homes and elderly care facilities — wider coverage improves step visibility for residents with reduced visual acuity
· Large office and commercial buildings — cost-effective stair edge protection for multiple stair flights
· Residential apartment buildings — budget-friendly communal stair protection
· Retail environments — discreet wide-coverage stair trim on vinyl or carpet-covered stairs
Installation Steps
1. Measure the tread width and cut P60 to length using a utility knife or mitre saw.
2. Clean the tread surface at the step edge.
3. For adhesive installation: apply contact adhesive to the underside of the P60 and to the tread surface. Allow to become tacky. Press firmly into position and roll the length of the nosing for full contact.
4. For screw installation: position P60 at the tread edge, mark and drill pilot holes, fix with countersunk screws at 200mm intervals.
5. Allow adhesive to cure fully before the stair is returned to use.
FAQ
Q: What is the difference between P60 and P50?
A: The P60 is 60mm wide — providing 10mm more tread edge coverage than the P50. Specify P60 where wider anti-slip marking is required (wider treads, enhanced visibility requirements, care home or school applications). The P50 is the standard width for most indoor commercial applications.
Q: Is P60 suitable for high-traffic areas?
A: The P60 is suitable for medium-traffic indoor commercial and institutional stairs. For high-traffic public buildings, outdoor stairs or concrete substrates, we recommend the aluminium profiles (D50, D60 or A50) for greater durability and mechanical fix strength.
Q: Can P60 be used in care homes for elderly residents?
A: Yes. The P60 wide yellow variant is particularly suitable for care homes — the 60mm yellow surface provides a clearly visible step edge contrast for elderly residents with reduced visual acuity. The flexible PVC construction is also easy to clean with standard care home cleaning agents.
