Product Features
· 38mm ergonomic diameter — optimal grip diameter for a wide range of adult hand sizes; ADA and European accessibility standard compliant grip range (32–50mm)
· Slim compact profile — 38mm projection is visually unobtrusive; appropriate for residential-style healthcare environments, nursing homes and hotel healthcare facilities
· 1.6mm aluminum core — structural rigidity for a corridor handrail; same rated load capacity (200 kg/m) as wider HR Series models despite the slim profile
· 2.0mm PVC cover thickness — thicker cover relative to the profile diameter; provides good surface durability for continuous hand contact along the rail
· Anti-shock rubber end — internal rubber element at contact zones; reduces noise from cane and walking aid contact with the handrail
· Antibacterial, flame-retardant, waterproof PVC — full healthcare surface specification
· Pantone custom color matching — suitable for coordination with specific interior color schemes
· Length range 1m–6m — custom lengths available; suitable for short corridor sections as well as full corridor runs

Applications
· Nursing home and elderly care corridors — compact grip rail appropriate for residential-aesthetic care environments; provides essential ambulation support without the institutional appearance of wide crash rail profiles
· Hospital patient room corridors — secondary corridor handrail alongside wall guards; provides grip support in narrower corridors where a wide profile would reduce circulation space
· Rehabilitation center corridors and therapy rooms — 38mm ergonomic grip diameter is the preferred specification for corridors used in physiotherapy ambulation training
· Hotel healthcare and wellness facilities — unobtrusive compact handrail for healthcare wing corridors in hotel and hospitality environments
· Residential care homes and assisted living facilities — slim profile integrates with residential interior design while providing accessible corridor support for residents
· Stairwells — 38mm diameter meets most building code requirements for stairwell handrail grip diameter; suitable for stairwell continuous handrail runs
Installation Steps
1. Determine mounting height — for general hospital corridors, 850–900mm from finished floor to the top of the HR-038 handrail. For elderly care and residential environments, confirm with the occupational therapist — a lower height of 800–850mm may be specified for seated users and shorter stature elderly residents.
2. Mark bracket positions at 500–600mm spacing for standard corridor use. For stairwells, use 300–400mm spacing and ensure all brackets are set perpendicular to the rake of the stairwell slope.
3. Confirm structural substrate at all fixing positions. The HR-038 is a slim profile — ensure fixing positions are in solid wall substrate despite the lower visual weight of the product.
4. Drill, anchor and mount brackets following the standard HR Series installation process (same as HR-140 Steps 3–6).
5. Slide the aluminum retainer onto the mounted brackets. Ensure the retainer is level along its full length using a spirit level.
6. Fit the PVC cover over the retainer. The cover should snap securely over the retainer along its full length without gaps or lifting edges.
7. Fit ABS end caps at both ends of the run. The anti-shock rubber element should be positioned at each end cap location to protect the handrail end from impact.
8. For continuous corridor runs, butt-join retainer sections at brackets using the supplied aluminum joining connectors.
9. Apply a load test to multiple points along the installed handrail before the corridor is returned to use.
Product Advantages
· Ergonomic function focus — the 38mm diameter is the optimal grip dimension for patient ambulation support; HR-038 delivers maximum grip function per millimetre of wall projection compared to wider crash rail profiles
· Residential aesthetic — slim round profile does not read as an institutional safety fixture; integrates with residential-style interior design in nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and hotel healthcare environments
· Cost-effective per linear metre — lower material cost than wider profiles; appropriate for budget-conscious projects where wall impact protection is provided by separate wall guards and the handrail function is the priority
FAQ
Q: If HR-038 is only 38mm wide, does it provide any wall protection?
A: The HR-038 provides primary grip support for corridor users, with minimal wall crash protection function given its slim profile. For complete hospital wall protection, HR-038 is typically installed in conjunction with a separate PVC wall guard (such as WG-150 or WG-200B) — the wall guard handles the wall impact protection zone while HR-038 provides the grip rail. If you need a single product that delivers both functions, specify one of the wider HR Series profiles (HR-140, HR-143, HR-159 or HR-200).
Q: What is the load capacity of HR-038 given its slim profile?
A: Despite its slim 38mm diameter, the HR-038 is rated to 200 kg/m — the same load capacity as the wider HR Series profiles. This is achieved through the 1.6mm structural aluminum core, which is proportionally thicker relative to the profile diameter than the retainers used in wider profiles.
Q: Can HR-038 be installed on a curved wall?
A: The HR-038 slim round profile can follow gentle wall curves more easily than wide-body profiles. The aluminum retainer can be cold-bent on-site to follow moderate wall curves. For tight curves (radius below approximately 3m), please contact us for advice on the appropriate installation method.
